The End Goal

So here is some info about how I have upgraded my 1967 Mustang to make it easier to live with. These 60s cars are famous for poor handling, poor brakes and unreliability. Without spending crazy money i wanted a balance between cost, style, performance and comfort.

The major changes I have made include

  • Rack and Pinion Steering power steering
  • Power assisted cross ventilated Disk brakes all round
  • Front Coil over suspension
  • Power assisted steering
  • Alarm and Tracker
  • Remote central locking
  • Modern Stereo System
  • Leather bucket seats with improved driving position
  • New modern wiring harness
  • New Modern gauge cluster
  • Modern 5 Spd Gear Box with overdrive gear for motorway cruising
  • Modern stereo system with Ipod Connection
  • Modern, heat and noise insulation.

Of course I couldn’t have everything I wanted. Here are some things that got the chop due to cost or the amount of time they would add to the project. Some of them will go on the “upgrade list”

  • Right hand Drive conversion – A lot of custom fabrication, way too much work for first mustang
  • Electronic Fuel injection
  • Rear Independent suspension
  • Supercharger
